Tracts – Understanding Time and Season.

Wikipedia defines Time, as the continued sequence of existence and events that occurs in an apparently irreversible succession from the past, through the present, into the future. While season is a division of the year based on changes in weather, ecology, and the number of daylight hours in a given region.

According to the Bible, there is time for everything, Ecclesiastes 3:2 says

“A time to be born, and a time to die; …”

Our decision will determine the quality of life we will live here and hereafter. Several people have lived and died in this space of time and majority of them have been forgotten!

In time, we have opportunity to choose between life and death, light and darkness, good and evil, righteousness and unrighteousness, any decision we make is a product of choice. Doing the work of God if I may say, is time-based. John 9:4 read

“I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.”

Truth be told, when I was much younger, the secular songs, dressing of our time, and the cars we aspired to ride have fizzled away with time. The future awaits to tell the stories of our present days as tales and riddles of vanity. Technology has rapidly taken over and dictates how our lives should be lived. Today’s social media, such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter (X), including the introduction of ChartGPT using AI, have serious consequences for our quality of life. Unfortunately, man gives attention to transient things rather than leaning and living on God’s unfailing promises with eternity in view.

Life is full of ups and downs, time keeps ticking, life speeds up with time and life could end after the unrecoverable time has been wasted. The earlier we recognize that life lived with or without the consciousness of God has consequences, the better. However, coming into a relationship with the unchanging God is an urgent choice we need to make today, though we will not be compelled, time may no longer be available for us to waste!

Living a fulfilling life in this space of time is not measured by the number of material things we possess, such as a number of houses built, cars in your garage, academic qualifications, other brags with a number of women or men they had relationships with, just to mention a few! 3 John 1:2

“I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth”.

Aside from physical prosperity built on equity, integrity, and godliness, the Lord wants our souls to prosper. This can only happen when we have a secure eternity, and we can reign with God at the end of this life.

Those who devote their lives to chasing transient things will end up facing the consequence of neglecting God! God asked Adam, “…where art thou?” (Gen. 3:9 KJV). Before our lives become desolate, please, you need to turn to God urgently. The question is, where are you? Are you with God?

Every careless life lived in this space of time has grievous consequences. Zephaniah 2:15 read,

“This is the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none beside me: how has she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and wag his hand”.

Several biblical references pointed to people who maximized their potential by responding to God’s Word and call. God condemns whoever covers his sins, that he/she will not prosper (in this present world and in the one to come).

We must be free from sin and come into partnership with God for a new beginning. The Prodigal Son came to himself and said “I will arise and go to my father …”. We must return to the shepherd of our soul, the owner of our lives, and one who can rescue us from hell (fire).

We must expose ourselves to God as He is asking, “… where art thou?”. The moment we become sincere and expose ourselves to God, that is when we have a new beginning with Him. Then, we must have a sincere reply as we recognize where we have fallen. Such a sincere reply must trigger your confession of sins. Your prayer may fall in any of these or more: I have sinned against you Lord with my frequent and fragrant disobedience to your Word, I need you for a new beginning; I am a backslider, I need restoration now; I commit immorality, Idolatry which is against your Word, give me perfect hatred for my sins; I steal from my place of work, I am repenting from that now; I engage in drunkenness, deliver me from it Lord; I bear false witness, let your grace take over my life today; I have committed murder, oh Lord, I need your mercy; I commit abortion, I will do no more; … God, please have mercy on me and save my soul now, as I confess my sins and accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour, Lord, write my name in the book of Life (Amen).

If you have prayed these prayers sincerely, the Lord has answered your prayers, because 2 Peter 3:9

“The Lord is … not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance”.

“I surrender all, I surrender all; All to Thee, my blessed Saviour, I surrender all”.
