Tracts – Be Ye Perfect

It is disheartening that the so-called Christians think they can see God at the end of their Christian journey with their imperfections! Several believers today give excuses for their lack of uprightness before God. The Bible says in Psalms 37:37

“Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace”.

If I may read the opposite of that Bible verse, “Mark an imperfect man, and behold the cunning: for the end of that man is crisis”.

Christian perfection is Christ’s command. Christ says in Matthew 5:48

“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect”.

Christ knew we are human before He gave us this command to be perfect! He was not calling us to angelic perfection, neither is He asking us to achieve the impossible. Only human perfection pleases Him!

Aspiring to be perfect is not enough, but there must be corresponding action which must be evident in your desire through fervent prayers and frequent consciousness of God’s presence in our thoughts and before we take any decision.

Coming of Christ to the world is not only to give salvation from sins but also to sanctify the believers or give such saved believers a pure heart and make such to be perfectly fit for heaven. The Psalmist asked a question in Palms 24:3

“Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place?”

He provided the answer in the next verse, “He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully”. Clean hands (hand cleans from shedding innocent blood, free from abortion, free from stealing, bribery, or any corrupt practices); Pure heart (a heart that only craves doing the will of God; such heart is free from defilement such as lust for riches or worldly allurement, lust of the flesh, lust for position, …

No man can attain the perfection the Bible describes except Firstly, he/she must be converted (being born again). By this, the individual repents from all secret and open sins and confesses Jesus as his/her Lord and Saviour. John 14:6- Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me.

Secondly, he/she must be sanctified. Christ prayed for our sanctification. John 17:17

Sanctification is the state of being set apart for God’s use through the removal of the Adamic nature of sin. By this, the desire to sin is gone, he/she is made holy for the use of God. This becomes evident in your relationship with people around you. Heb. 12:14

“Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:”.

You must be seeing God here on earth in prayer and regular communion with Him before you can see Him at the end of life in eternity. Regular devotion to God’s Word and prayer serves as a lubricant that makes the wheel of His grace functional in your daily life.

Thirdly, you pray for the inlling of the Spirit of God. No doubt, at salvation, the Spirit of God comes upon us in a measure. While we feed regularly on His Word and Prayers, we will grow more and more. Prayer as we know is the act of communion with God. Thus, we commune with Him regularly by taking instructions for His leading. Romans 8:14

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God”.

Heaven bond believers do not live a careless life. Even before we comment, we want to get clearance from His Spirit

(James 3:2 “… If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man …”)

We do not join the crowd or public opinion without checking from God. We may need to keep quiet when we are not clear about a situation.

Also, we must have a guided and guarded thought. If indeed we have been redeemed, Psalms 19:14 says

“Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer”.

What do you meditate on, if I may ask? Prov. 4:23

“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life”.

Are you reading this, but have yet to yield to God? You are not yet a child of God. A simple and sincere prayer will bring you into God’s kingdom today. Romans 10:13

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved”.

You need to confess your sins and come in through the door that leads to salvation which is Jesus Christ. John 10:9

“I am the door: by me, if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and nd pasture”.

Pray for Jesus Christ to come into your heart today. Ask for forgiveness of your sins and grace to live a new life in Christ.

If you have prayed these prayers sincerely, the Lord has answered your prayers, because 2 Peter 3:9

“The Lord is … not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance”.

May the Lord continue to bless you.
